In 1992, Farouk discovered that a strand of silk is more powerful than a strand of steel and incorporated silk molecules into a new serum called BioSilk Silk Therapy® that replenishes, protects and repairs hair and skin. Silk holds moisture up to three times its own weight and contains 17 of the 19 amino acids in hair. Today the BioSilk line offers a complete line of silk-infused products for head to toe beauty in eight solutions: Silk, Cleanse, Condition, Treat, Style, Finish, Revive and Spa.

The next break through for Farouk Systems came in 2001, when it pioneered Thermal Tool Technology and created the CHI® Ceramic Flat Iron. Farouk Systems became the first company to incorporate Ceramic, Ionic Hydration and Far Infrared into hair tools and developed its trademark—Cationic Hydration Interlink—CHI® 44 Ceramic Advanced American Technology composed of 44 Inorganic substances that produce the highest quality of far infrared and negative ions to lock in moisture, keep hair healthy and create incredible shine. In 2005, Farouk Systems worked with scientists from NASA to create hair dryers with low EMF (Electromagnetic Fields) and hair tools formulated with Nano Silver that kill up to 650 forms of bacteria for a safer, environmentally-friendly salon atmosphere.

Launched in 2009, prestige sulfate- and paraben-free Farouk Royal Treatment by CHI introduced a four-step system to achieve perfect balance and harmony for beautiful hair: Cleanse, Nurture, Achieve and Complete. The award-winning, gold-crowned line protects against the effects of time and environmental stressors with a white truffle and pearl complex. Coveted for centuries, white truffle is rich with vitamin B for the stimulation of proteins and amino acids. It conditions without buildup and enhances tensile strength. Pearl slows down the aging of hair; contains 22 amino acids, proteins and vitamin B; and holds moisture three times longer.
Farouk Royal Treatment by CHI Gold Ceramic Digital Hairstyling Iron has 24K gold overlay plates for the next generation in heat styling. The Farouk Royal Treatment by CHI Gold Ceramic Digital Hair Dryer is an industry first with four speeds and eight heat settings to suit all hair types.
Made in the USA
Prior to 2008, all Farouk Systems wet products were made in the USA and heat tools were made overseas. With the controversy of questionable China-made goods combined with rising shipping costs and a need for American jobs, Farouk Systems brought CHI tool manufacturing to Houston, Texas. The company invested in a new manufacturing facility and is on trend to create 600 jobs each year with the transition of all CHI heat tools to be ultimately produced in Houston.
The next step in Farouk Systems’ Advanced American Technology lies with the microencapsulation experiments that were launched and returned on the Shuttle Atlantis, marking the final voyage of the NASA space shuttle program. The company is also exploring the use of safer water-based disinfectants, ozone generators, and Middle-Ultraviolet light from LED devices to be used as disinfectants, in place of steam sterilizers to comply with Safe Hygiene Regulations in salons and spas.
Giving Back
Throughout its 25 years, Farouk Systems has given back to the community and helped others achieve their American dream. After such natural disasters such as Hurricane Ike and the tornados that devastated Joplin, MO, Farouk Systems supplied truck loads of hygiene kits to residents and provided assistance to affected hairdressers in the regions. Other efforts include supporting Miss Texas Wheelchair, Stand Up to Cancer, the Latino Leadership Initiative sponsored by Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership, Best Buddies in conjunction with the Miss Universe Organization and annually donating thousands of dollars from Breast Cancer Awareness and Childhood Cancer Awareness promotions.
Farouk and Hollywood
In 2003, Farouk Systems partnered with NBC and Donald Trump’s Miss Universe Organization and became the official hair care sponsor. Since then CHI stylists have been backstage tending to the tresses of the contestants in the Miss Teen USA, Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. In 2011, a hair manufacturer first, Farouk and Farouk Systems appeared on network television in primetime on The Celebrity Apprentice, giving the celebrities the task of creating a hair show and marketing CHI.
Farouk System products has been on set of Hollywood’s block buster movies, top-rated television shows and in celebrity gifting suites including the Grammys, Latin Grammys, MTV Video Music Awards, Emmys, Daytime Emmys and Country Music Awards.
A celebrity himself, Farouk was interviewed by Mario Lopez for the Lifechanger segment of Extra! entertainment television show.
